THE WEBSITE’S USE OF COOKIES

What is a cookie?

Today, virtually all websites use cookies, because in many cases it is necessary to deliver a service on or via the website.

A cookie is a passive text file that is stored in the user’s browser in order to recognize the user’s computer on repeat visits. Cookies can be used, among other things, to compile statistics on users’ use of the website or send individualized information to the user. On Zenegy’s website, cookies are used for various purposes, including investigating how the website is used, so that Zenegy can improve user-friendliness, adapt content and advertising, and generate statistics on the use of the website. The information in the statistics is anonymised and cannot be attributed to named users.

Overall, a distinction is made between “Session cookies” and “Permanent cookies”. Session cookies are automatically deleted from the browser when the user closes it. Permanent cookies are stored on the user’s hard drive for a predetermined period of time, after which they expire.

A distinction is also made between “Performance cookies” and “Functional cookies”: Performance cookies collect information about your use of the website, such as web pages you have visited and error messages. Technical cookies are set by the website and are used to recognize the user when he moves around the website and to remember whether the user e.g. is logged in. Technical cookies are necessary for the vast majority of websites to function as they should. Technical cookies have no impact on your privacy, as they do not record what you search for on other websites.

Statistical cookies are set by the website and stored on the user’s device. Statistical cookies are used to optimize the design, usability and efficiency of the website. The collected information is included in, for example, analyzes of which information is most popular on the page and which must therefore be easy to find, so that user-friendliness is improved. Statistics cookies can also be used to collect visitor statistics through a simple count of the number of visits to a website.

Personalized cookies (also called “tracking cookies”) collect information by following the user around the website, where they collect digital footprints. Personalized cookies are used to provide the user with more targeted and relevant content, for example in the form of suggested information and articles. The content is selected on the basis of the information that personalized cookies have collected about your searches, interests and clicks around the web.

Marketing cookies collect information by following users on the individual websites, in the same way that personalized cookies do. Marketing cookies are therefore also “tracking cookies”. The collected information is used to create an overview of users’ interests, habits and activities in order to show relevant ads for things users have previously looked at.

How to delete and avoid Cookies

As a user, you can decide for yourself whether you want to accept or delete cookies, or check it individually for each individual website. Users can also completely block the use of cookies. Users can make individual settings in their browser settings. Please note that the instructions apply to the vast majority of browsers, but some will not be mentioned. Users can always use the help function in their browser to get more information about cookie settings. This is typically done by pressing F1 on the computer. Search for “cookies”.

Users must be aware that if they delete or block cookies, their access to the website may be more or less limited, or the functionalities on the website may be inappropriate, just as certain functions will not be able to be performed at all, which for the employees of customers who uses the Zenegy salary administration application, can for example affect, their salary payment when using the Application.

Why does Zenegy inform about cookies?

All Danish websites are obliged to inform users about which cookies are placed on the user’s equipment. The information must be in accordance with the “Declaration on requirements for information and consent when storing and accessing information in end-user terminal equipment”.

The executive order requires that informed consent is obtained from the user when websites wish to store cookies on the user’s IT equipment.
